NEW ORLEANS — A pair of Saints have been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster.
New Orleans tight end Jared Cook and guard Andrus Peat were selected to the NFC Pro Bowl squad on Friday. The Pro Bowl honors are the second overall and second consecutive for both players but Cook’s first one came as a member of the Oakland Raiders last season.
With those two additions, the Saints now have a franchise-record nine players named to the NFL’s annual all-star game, surpassing the eight named from the 2018 squad. The 2020 Pro Bowl will take place on Sunday, Jan. 26 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
The 6-foot-5, 254-pound Cook was the Saints’ top free agent signing last offseason and the NFL veteran didn’t disappoint. In 14 games, Cook hauled in 43 receptions for 705 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Cook also led tight ends in yards per catch and was ranked second at the position in scoring grabs, while tying for the team lead.
The 6-foot-7, 316-pound Peat is a former first-round draft pick (2015) and has lined up at every position on the offensive line except for center. Peat lined up at left guard this season for the Saints.
Cook replaces Philadelphia tight end Zach Ertz while Peat replaces Washington guard Brandon Schereff on the NFC roster as both of those players will miss the game due to injury.
Cook and Peat will join quarterback Drew Brees, wide receiver Michael Thomas, offensive tackle Terron Armstead, defensive end Cameron Jordan, cornerback Marshon Lattimore, return specialist Deonte Harris, and kicker Wil Lutz on the NFC Pro Bowl roster.
