The Saints are adding depth across the offensive line by signing yet another former Green Wave player.
New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Tuesday that the franchise has agreed to terms with free agent offensive guard Christian Montano.
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive lineman was an undrafted rookie free agent out of Tulane in 2020. The Pittsburgh Steelers signed him for training camp but cut him right before the start of last season.
Montano spent his first five college football seasons at Brown University, where he was a three-year starter and second-team All-Ivy League honoree and two-time semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy which is the academic Heisman Trophy.
Montano then transferred and played one season at Tulane in 2019. Montano started all 13 games at left guard for the Green Wave and helped the offense average 33 points and 455 yards per game.
Montano is the second former Green Wave player the Saints have signed this offseason. Less than a week ago, the Saints signed former Tulane wide receiver Jalen McClesky.
