The New Orleans Saints made necessary additions to their roster Wednesday afternoon. The Black and Gold signed former Packers and Lions running back Jamaal Williams.
The contract is three years in length, worth $12 million with $8 million fully guaranteed. The news was first announced by Adam Schefter via Twitter.
Williams stood out in 2022 as he had 1,066 yards on 262 carries for 17 touchdowns; all were career highs. This signing was much needed as many believe starter Alvin Kamara will serve a lengthy suspension from the league due to his actions in the Pro Bowl.
New Orleans did sign an interior defensive lineman earlier on Wednesday in Khalen Saunders, who spent all four seasons of his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs and won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs. In 2022, Saunders had a career-high in sacks with 3.5 and was a big piece in KC winning the championship.
They’re also expected to sign former Jets defensive lineman Nathan Shepherd, who had 33 total tackles, a sack and a half, and four stuffs in 2022.
