Not long after the NFL Draft dust had settled, it felt like an inevitability for Larry Warford to be either released or traded. That happened on Friday afternoon with Mickey Loomis making the official announcement.
Warford is a seven-year NFL veteran who was originally selected in the third round (65th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Lions out of Kentucky and signed with the Saints in 2017. In 2019, he opened 15 regular-season contests and the NFC Wild Card Playoff game vs. Minnesota.
This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise with the Saints drafting center/guard Cesar Ruiz out of Michigan with their first-round pick with Warford’s spot likely being taken up by either Ruiz or second-year player Erik McCoy.
