The New Orleans Saints have made a draft-day trade, acquiring Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Tyree Wilson. Ian Rapoport was the first to break the news on X.
New Orleans sent one of its fifth-round picks (150th overall) from today’s draft to Las Vegas in exchange for Wilson and a seventh-round pick (219th) that will be used later today. The Raiders used the 150th pick to select Arizona safety Dalton Johnson.
The Raiders took Wilson with the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The soon-to-be 26-year-old stands at 6′ 5″ and weighs 263 lbs. There were previous discussions and rumors of the Black and Gold trying to trade for New York Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, who is a similar build and age to Wilson. The Saints couldn’t get a deal done with the Giants and set their eyes on a new target.
Wilson was a three-year starter for the Raiders and a complementary piece to Vegas’ star pass rusher, Maxx Crosby. Since 2023, Wilson has missed just one game and recorded 12 sacks, 91 tackles (57 solo), four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 12.5 stuffs, and a pass deflection.
This past season was the former Texas A&M Aggie’s most productive overall. In 2025, Wilson set career highs in tackles (35, 25 solo), forced fumbles (2), stuffs (6.5), and pass deflections (1), and added 4 sacks to the total. In college, Wilson was at A&M for his final season, spending the previous three years at Texas Tech, where he was teammates with Tyler Shough.
Wilson will compete to be the third option at outside linebacker, playing behind Chase Young and Carl Granderson. His competition for that spot is Chris Rumph and Fadil Diggs.
