LSU Athletics along with Visit Baton Rouge have announced that the world-famous Savannah Bananas to Alex Box Stadium March 14-16, 2024. This weekend of games will be the teams’ first in a college stadium.
The Bananas are an entertainment baseball team based out of Savannah, Georgia, and has become famous for its unique “Banana-ball” style and its social media presence. The team has sold out every game since 2016.
Tickets may only be purchased from the Bananas. No tickets will be sold by the LSU ticket office. The ticket lottery must be joined by December 1st. The Ticket Lottery List can be found at thesavannahbananas.com/tickets/.
Random drawings will take place about two months before the event. If selected, fans will be able to purchase up to four tickets. Children 3 and under will be admitted free.
“As a baseball destination with a loyal fan base and electric atmosphere, it’s only fitting that the Bananas have selected Baton Rouge to host their first ever game in a college baseball stadium,” said Jill Kidder, President & CEO of Visit Baton Rouge. “It’s truly going to be bananas to see all of the excitement and entertainment that follows them wherever they go!”
LSU and Visit Baton Rouge began working with the team over a year ago to explore a partnership. The 2023 Banana Ball World Tour had sold out crowds in 33 cities and 20 states.
The Bananas have played in minor league stadiums of every level as well as MLB Spring Training parks. The final game of their tour was at Abner Doubleday Field at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
Alex Box Stadium has a seating capacity of 10,326 and LSU Baseball has led the nation in attendance in 25 different years since 1996.
The Bananas, named by ESPN as the “Greatest Show in Sports” and a fan favorite on TikTok, reimagines the game of baseball with dances, epic celebrations, mascots, celebrities, and more. The style of “banana ball” is a fast-paced style with rules such as no bunting, fans can catch foul balls for outs, a two-hour time limit, batters can steal first base, and a 1v1 showdown for extra innings if the game is tied.
Team rosters will have the most talented and entertaining players in the world, including former MLB players and celebrities. In 2023 alone, former MLB stars, Jake Peavy, Hunter Pence, Johnny Damon, Josh Reddick, and Barry Zito all wore the Bananas uniform.
