Now that conference championship weekend has passed and the College Football Playoff has been announced, it’s now time to look at bowl matchups for the LSU Tigers, Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, and Tulane Green Wave.
First, the Tulane Green Wave will be headed to the Military Bowl in Annapolis, Maryland. This news comes the same day that Willie Fritz was hired away from Uptown by the Houston Cougars.
Their opponent on December 27 has yet to be announced, but it will be a team from the ACC.
The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns finished the season 6-6 after playing three different starting quaterbacks, but found a way to make it to their sixth straight bowl game. Now, for the seventh time in the last 11 years, Louisiana will be playing in the New Orleans Bowl.
Inside the Caesars Superdome, Michael Desormeaux’s team will matchup with Rich Rodriguez and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, one of the newest FBS teams and a member of Conference USA. The Gamecocks finished 8-4, but were ineligible for a bowl game under the FBS transition rules. However, due to not enough eligible teams, both JSU and James Madison made bowl games.
For the LSU Tigers, another successful season has placed the Purple and Gold in a New Years Day bowl game. It was announced today that they will play Wisconsin in the Reliaquest Bowl in Tampa.
LSU finished 9-3 and had the best offense in college football this season, with Jayden Daniels well on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy this coming Saturday in New York City.
