Seniors Shine in Regular Season Finale Against Mississippi State

Posted by clintdomingue on March 3, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

Throughout the entire season, Tremont Waters had been the key to victory for LSU (17-13, 8-10 SEC). It seemed appropriate though that the seniors ended the regular season on a strong note and helped the Tigers come away with a 78-57 win over Mississippi State (21-10, 9-9 SEC).

It was a struggle for both teams to build a gap between themselves early on with neither team holding onto lead of more than three points. LSU caught fire though and went on a 12-2 run to make it 30-21 with 4:42 left. They were able to hold on as the first half ended and took a five-point lead into the locker room.

Things got tense early on in the second half with the Bulldogs getting the deficit down to two points with 11:59 left in regulation, but the Tigers started to pull away thanks to a 13-4 run. Walk-on senior Reed Vial put the final nail in Mississippi State’s coffin late courtesy of a late three.

LSU will wait out the rest of the results in the SEC to find out who they will face in the SEC Tournament in St. Louis.
