Sports Illustrated Leaves Out Ragin’ Cajuns in Latest Bowl Projections

Posted by Raymond Partsch III on October 23, 2019 in Blogs, Featured, Latest News, Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, RP3's Blogs
The University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns are projected to go a bowl game by ESPN and Yahoo Sports. Sports Illustrated meanwhile did not pick UL to earn a bowl berth in this week’s projections.

Despite possessing a 5-2 overall record, there will be no bowl game for the University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns — according to the latest projections by Sports Illustrated.

SI released its projections for all 40 bowl games on Tuesday morning and the Ragin’ Cajuns were nowhere to be found.

SI projects that six teams from the Sun Belt Conference earning bowl berths. That includes Appalachian State (Frisco Bowl), Georgia State (Cure Bowl), Troy (Camellia Bowl), Arkansas State (New Orleans Bowl), ULM (Arizona Bowl), and Georgia Southern (Mobile Alabama Bowl).

Yet, despite leading the Sun Belt Western Division standings, and having already defeated both Georgia Southern and Arkansas State (on the road none the less), UL finds itself not bowling according to SI’s projections.

ESPN meanwhile released its bowl projections on Monday and has UL projected for a bowl game even though the two analysts are split on which game it will be. Kyle Bonagura has UL playing Ohio (who the team played earlier this season) in the Camellia Bowl on Dec. 21. Mark Schlabach meanwhile has UL facing Ball State in the Mobile Alabama Bowl on Jan. 6.

Yahoo Sports also has UL earning a berth in the Mobile Alabama Bowl but playing Western Michigan.

UL is on bye this week and will return to action hosting Texas State on Saturday, Nov. 2.
