ST. LANDRY PARISH GOW RECAP: Opelousas Catholic suffers first loss of season

Posted by Raymond Partsch III on October 3, 2025 in Blogs, High School Sports, Local News, RP3's Blogs, Sports News

The Opelousas Catholic Vikings suffered their first loss of the season.

After scoring 40-plus points in the previous two games, OC was shut out on the road in a hard-fought 3-0 loss to Sacred Heart of Ville Platte. The loss drops to 3-1 and 0-1 in District 5-1A play.

Neither team was able to find the end zone as the lone points of the game came with 11:42 left in the fourth quarter. That is when the Trojans kicked. William Champman made a 19-yard field goal for the lone points of the contest.

Opelousas Catholic senior wide receiver-defensive back Roderick Tezeno was selected as Player of the Game. Tezeno had seven receptions for 87 yards, while also having two pass breakups and a touchdown-saving tackle on defense.

This week’s contest, with Jason Burns and Chad Jones on the call, will be Opelousas Catholic at St. Edmund. Pregame begins at 6:45 and kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The St. Landry Parish Game of the Week is broadcast every week on Z105.9 FM — The Soul of Southwest Louisiana, and weekly written recaps are presented by Regional Homes of Opelousas and available on www.Z1059.com.
