ERATH-The Bobcats are a good team that went to the playoffs and finished with an 8-4 record in 2022. Head coach Eric LeBlanc has a very experienced group of starters, including a lethal quarterback-wide receiver duo in Lynkon Romero and Christian Pillete that will have another season to build on their chemistry. This 2023 edition of the Bobcats will be undersized on the line but will have an athletic group of guys on both sides of the ball that should propel them to another playoff berth.
IMPACT PLAYERS
Lynkon Romero QB, 6’3”, 210 lbs, SR
Romero will enter his final high school season as that’ll be his fourth year as their starter. His talent and accuracy have been a big part of Erath’s success over the last couple of years. “We’re more of a team… our ability to work together, whether it’s the offense or the defense. Help each other to where the other team isn’t carrying the load on the big game. That’ll help us push over the edge and push us further than we’ve ever been in the playoffs.”
Christian Pillette WR, 5’10”, 168 lbs, SR
Pillette has become a beast over the years and built up a reputation as a dominant wide receiver for Erath with him holding the school record for career receiving yards. He’ll be Romero’s best target again this season as he looks to extend his record. Pillette talked about his connection with his QB and exclaimed how the Bobcats can go even further by saying, “We know what we need to do exactly all the time… we’re always on the same page. As long as we do that and keep everyone else with it, we’re going to go all the way.”
Bo Lancon CB/WR, 6’0”, 165 lbs, SR
Another guy Romero will look to on offense to throw to is Lancon, who also has a major role in the secondary on defense. Lancon Island led the Bobcats in interceptions in 2022 and that came in part came due to his speed. When asked about this Erath defense and how good they can be, Lancon explained that they “have a great defense. We’ve got some athletic dudes… athletic guys that can take over for us and I think we’re gonna have a great season.”
HEAD COACH: ERIC LEBLANC
The main man of the Bobcats heads into his 10th season with the program (sixth as head coach). He was the defensive line coach and special team coordinator until he was given the head coaching job in 2018. The McNeese graduate will look to have his team improve from the 8-4 record they’ve had the last two years. “An experienced group, athletic guys at skill positions. A hungry team that wants to go beyond expectations and set a new standard for the program,” Leblanc said about his team coming into 2023.
