This week’s Fave 5 is brought to you by living up to the HYPE! We are all forever indebted to Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
5. Nick Fairley
Stepping in for the injured rookie Sheldon Rankins, Nick Fairley showed that he at least still has flashes of ferocity left in him during the Saints’ second preseason game last Saturday. Can Fairley maintain his ferociousness 3 downs at a time and over 4 quarters is the big question.
4. Dak Prescott
There are two things Cowboys owner Jerry Jones loves, some glory hole and rookie QB Dak Prescott. After two preseason games, the Cowboys owner and Cowboys fans are believing that Starkville’s greatest export is God’s gift to America’s team. You have to love this because it guarantees that Jerry’s World will be a big top displaying the circus that is a Cowboys quarterback controversy. The second Tony Romo gets hurt or looks bad get ready for the pitchforks and Dak getting a plate full of expectations no rookie can handle.
3. The End of the Olympics
The summer games of the whatever number we’re at Olympiad are mercifully over. Now our national media outlets can shift their focus from a lying swimmer no one will remember to the issues that matter like the flooding in Louisiana our circus of a presidential race. We can all get back to our regularly scheduled programs until four years from now when we all pretend to care about swimming and gymnastics again.
2. The AP Top 25 Preseason Poll
A writer from the Omaha World Herald picked LSU #1 overall and Alabama was #1 in a preseson poll again. The writers stink at picking winners so this bodes very well for anyone who does not worship Satan and wants to see the Tide go down.
1. Fighting
UFC 202 gave us a knockout for the ages, a fight for the ages, and it exceeded an almost insurmountable amount of HYPE. WWE provided us with over 13 hours of pro wrestling content in less than 24 hours. This was perhaps the best weekend of combat sports ever. I need an ice pack.
NOW CAN YOU DIG THAT!? SUCKA! YEAOH!
