Three Ragin Cajuns had to wait until Saturday to find out who they would be drafted by in the 2016 MLB Draft.
The first Cajun that got picked up was Reagan Bazar, who was selected in the 17th round by the San Francisco Giants with the 515th pitch. He was followed by Stefan Trosclair and Eric Carter who were drafted in the 20th and 26th round respectively. The interesting part: both players were picked by the St. Louis Cardinals.
But a pair of Cajuns signees for the class of 2017 was drafted on Saturday as well. Todd Lott was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 20th round. Ju-Co catcher Handsome Monica was picked by the Atlanta Braves in the 33rd round.
With these two prospects picked late in the draft, it will be interesting to see how long Coach Tony Robichaux will be waiting to see if they’ll sign on the dotted line.
