As we reach the end of the baseball season, some of the All-American teams are starting to come out. Collegiate Baseball magazine started things off on Thursday and three LSU Tigers received some recognition.
Greg Deichmann, who was named first-team All-SEC, was named first-team All-American. The junior out of Metarie amassed 19 home runs, a batting average of .330 and a slugging percentage of .638.
Alex Lange was named to the second-team after a strong finish to the 2017 season. He currently holds an 8-5 record and a 2.59 ERA. The junior also has limited opponents to a batting average of .234.
Kramer Robertson rounds out the group of Tigers named by Collegiate Baseball to be the best of the best by being named to the third-team. Robertson, has been hitting .314 this season including eight home runs. His ability at the dish as well as defensively has helped LSU win 16 of their last 18 games.
The Tigers will start their postseason on Friday against Texas Southern with first pitch scheduled for 2 pm.
Extra Bases:
Poche Named Starter: At first glance, Texas Southern should be a win for the Bayou Bengals whenever the teams face off on Friday. However, Paul Mainieri is taking no chances and is putting in senior Jared Poche as the starter. This could be an interesting thing to watch considering what Poche did last season during the regionals.
