The future for LSU looks quite bright with some of the younger guys on this team stepping up all season long. And Collegiate Baseball Magazine sees what three of the Tigers freshmen have done and that got some recognition on Wednesday.

Pitcher Eric Walker, Josh Smith, and Zach Watson all were named Freshman All-America on Wednesday afternoon.

Walker is currently 8-1 with a 3.46 ERA and 78 Ks in 93.2 innings of work. He had another solid effort this past weekend against Rice where he threw eight shutout innings and held the Owls to only seven hits.

Smith was named last month to the SEC All-Defensive Team and is currently hitting .290 with 15 doubles and four home runs.

Speaking of home runs, Watson is coming off an incredible regional performance where he hit four home runs, matching the mark set by Zeph Zinsman in 2001.
