After the defensive showing in Maui last week, the LSU Tigers (4-2) put extra focus on it before their return to the PMAC on Wednesday evening. It wound up paying off with the Tigers getting 29 points off of UT Martin’s (1-6) 18 turnovers to come away with an 84-60 win.
It seemed like the Skyhawks were going to keep it competitive early on, but LSU managed to pull away at around the halfway mark when UT Martin went 1-of-11 before the eight minute media timeout. The offensive flurry from LSU continued with a lethal combination of Daryl Edwards and Skylar Mays, combining for 26 of the Tigers 41 points at the break.
LSU hovered around a twenty point lead for much of the beginning of the second half, but the Skyhawks were able to make it a little bit more competitive getting it down to 12 points with 12:56 left in the game. However, the Tigers quickly made it a 19-point lead and never looked back en-route to their 20-point win.
LSU will have a 10-day break with finals coming up before hosting UNC-Wilmington (2-3) on December 10th with tipoff set for 4 pm.
