Sixth-ranked LSU welcomed one of the other Tigers in the SEC to Tiger Park as Auburn came to town for a three-game series including the annual Teal Game. LSU’s defense had two major errors that eventually gave Auburn the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Auburn got on the board in the top of the third inning when KK McCray hit a single followed by a Makayla Packer walk to put a pair of Tigers on base. Nelia Peralta reached on a fielder’s choice play, which allowed McCray to score and give Auburn the early 1-0 lead.
LSU responded in the fourth with a two-run blast from Karli Petty over the right field wall by the scoreboard to make it a 2-1 lead for the Tigers.
Auburn tied the game up in the top of the sixth inning with an RBI single from Axe Milanowski that scored Thalia Martin and knotted the game at 2-2.
Auburn started the seventh with a leadoff double followed by a sacrifice fly, walk, and stolen base putting a pair of runners in scoring position with two outs. Then, Icess Tresvik reached on an error from Maddox McKee giving Auburn the 3-2 lead with two outs in the seventh.
LSU got a base hit from Kelley Lynch in the bottom, but a pair of strikeouts killed the momentum and gave Auburn the victory in the first game.
