Game two of the series between LSU and Texas A&M was more entertaining than the 9-0 Tigers win last night, but Jared Jones was still able to lead LSU to another big win over the Aggies in College Station 12-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Texas A&M scratched across the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the second inning with a pair of RBI singles to make it 2-0 Aggies. Two more runs were added by Texas A&M to make it 4-0 Aggies after three complete innings in College Station.
LSU didn’t stay down long, erupting for six runs in the top of the fourth to take the 6-4 lead. With two outs and the bases loaded, Tommy White singled up the middle to cut the lead in half at 4-2.
Gavin Dugas then stepped up and singled to score Dylan Crews to make it 4-3. The next batter was Josh Pearson, who doubled to right field to tie the game at four a piece. Finally, a ball hit by Jared Jones snuck over the first base bag and buried into the corner for a fair ball scoring two more to make it 6-4.
Texas A&M cut into the lead slightly with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 6-5 contest before LSU extended their lead to 9-5 on a three-run shot to left field by Jared Jones in the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, an RBI single made it a three-run contest for a 9-6 Tigers lead. In the seventh, LSU added another run on an RBI single from White to score Tre Morgan before Jones came up again and brought in two more runs to double the lead to 12-6 heading into the seventh-inning stretch.
The Aggies were able to add one more run in the bottom of the ninth, but LSU was able to shut the door and win the game 12-7.
