The LSU Tigers eclipsed their season averages in both offensive yards and total points in Saturday night’s 62-0 victory over Army at Tiger Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
LSU took the game’s opening drive and went 75 yards on eight plays as the drive was capped after Jayden Daniels found Kyren Lacy open for a 15-yard touchdown.
After three straight punts (two by Army and one by LSU), the Tigers got back on the scoreboard before the end of the first quarter. Daniels hit Brian Thomas Jr. for an 86-yard reception which set up a six-yard touchdown run by Logan Diggs.
In the second quarter, the Tigers scored off back-to-back turnovers by the Black Knights.
LSU took the first turnover (interception by Andre Sam) and turned that into an eight-yard touchdown pass from Daniels to Thomas Jr. Then after a Champ Harris fumble (which was recovered by Ovie Oghoufo), the Tigers scored again on a Daniels one-yard touchdown run.
LSU would add a 35-yard field goal by Damian Ramos and then a 26-yard touchdown pass from Daniels to Malik Nabers.
The first half ended with former Loreauville High star Zy Alexander picking off Harris. At the break, LSU led 38-0.
In the third quarter, LSU added a 51-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Nussmeier to Nabers, and a 32-yard field goal by Ramos.
LSU capped the scoring in the fourth with a two-yard touchdown run by Noah Cain and a 67-yard touchdown run by Trey Holly.
