The LSU Tigers defeated the Missouri Tigers 6-2 on Sunday in the rubber match of the Southeastern Conference series in Columbia, Missouri.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
LSU threatened to score in the top of the third when Alex Milazzo hit a two-out single to center field. Paxton Kling then drew a walk to put two runners on but Ian Lohse struck out Ashton Larson swinging to get out of the jam.
In the bottom frame, Missouri took advantage of some LSU miscues.
After a one-out bunt single by Brock Daniels, Trevor Austin then got on the basepaths with a single to center field. Daniels and Austin both advanced to third and second base on a wild pitch by Nate Auckenhausen. Both then scored on a fielding error by Steven Milam.
The damage could have been worse as Ackenhausen then gave up a single but he managed to strike out the next hitters to end the inning.
LSU rallied in the fifth inning and did so with two outs.
Milam hit a two-out triple to left field and then Milazzo walked. Kling stepped to the plate and hit a double which brought home two runners to tie the game.
The Tigers took the lead in the sixth inning.
Tommy White led off with a single and Jones hit a double to put two Tigers on with no outs. After a line out by Josh Pearson, Hayden Travinski was intentionally walked to load the bases, and then Bryce Mayer walked Michael Braswell which brought in a run.
LSU added to its lead with a solo home run by Larson in the seventh inning, and then a double by Braswell brought home another run in the eighth. Milazzo then scored on a throwing error in the top of the ninth.
