The #8 LSU Tigers (6-1, 3-0 SEC) will head off to College Station, Texas as they prepare to face off with Texas A&M (6-1, 4-0 SEC) in a battle of SEC unbeatens.
The Tigers dominated Arkansas on the road last week in a 34-10 victory as they will now look to take control of the top spot in the SEC against a newer rival in the conference with the Aggies.
Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM from Kyle Field and can be heard on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette 104.1 Lake Charles with pregame beginning at 4:30.
FIRST PLACE ON THE LINE
Both of these teams come into the contest with an undefeated record in the Southeastern Conference, meaning that whoever comes away victorious will control their own destiny on the Road to Atlanta heading into the final month of the regular season.
For Brian Kelly and LSU, that would mean two SEC title appearances in three years while Mike Elko would bring the Aggies to Atlanta in his first season in College Station.
BATTLE OF THE RUN GAME
Both LSU and Texas A&M have shown their ability to run the football this season, as both leading rushers (Le’Veon Moss for A&M and Caden Durham for LSU) come into this game averaging over six yards per carry. The Tigers will need to rely on their running game offensively to open up the passing attack while slowing down Moss and the Aggies’ attack on the defensive side if they want to win.
PRESSURE WEIGMAN
Connor Weigman, a highly touted quarterback out of high school, has not panned out the way Texa A&M may have hoped. So far this season, he’s thrown for less than 1,000 yards and has one more interception than he does touchdown. LSU will no doubt be looking to put pressure on him early and often force him into making more mistakes, giving the offense more opportunities to succeed.
