Welcome everyone to another edition of #TriplePlay!
Turn One: All the Right Moves
The Cajuns pitching staff has been fantastic, but there needed to be some adjustments made to the lineup heading into what was undoubtedly the most important series of the season. And Coach Tony Robichaux made all the right moves, bumping Nick Lee up to Saturday and getting Evan Guillory on the mound on Sunday. Guillory in fact said, the decision was made at 11:30 the night before. Wyatt Marks, who hasn’t been the dominant pitcher that he was early on in the year didn’t see any playing time and will be the probable starter for the midweek game against the UNO Privateers. This was the right move to make at this point of the season and it obviously paid off.
Turn Two: Doing Their Job
One thing the Ragin Cajuns can hang their hat on after this weekend is that they did their job. The Cajuns needed to win this series in order to hold onto their hopes of being atop the Sun Belt standings at the end of the regular season slate. After losing the Friday night matchup in upsetting fashion, the Cajuns came back and won the two-must win games. Now they’re only two games back of the Jags with a three-game series at the Tigue against the UL-Monroe Warhawks coming up. They will need some help as South Alabama has the Troy Trojans in their season finale. The Cajuns need to focus on getting the Ws and not so much on the other teams around them.
Turn Three: Big Decisions Coming
Coach Robichaux has an interesting decision right now as he needs to figure out his starting lineup for the next couple of weeks as the Sun Belt Conference tournament draws closer. In my mind, the moves he made this weekend should be the way it is for next weekend against ULM unless they’re planning to have a pitch count on Wyatt Marks in the midweek game. Then figure out the rest of the gameplan once we see who the Cajuns will face.
