Welcome everyone to another edition of #TriplePlay!
Turn One: Trosclair Cycle
One of the coolest things a baseball fan can see outside of a no-hitter or a perfect is to see someone go for the cycle. And that’s what we saw on Sunday afternoon with a convincing victory by the Cajuns, run ruling the UT Arlington Mavs. Stefan Trosclair, who hasn’t exactly had the great season so many fans were expecting, had a good day, starting off with a two-run shot to cap off of six run third inning. Here’s hoping he can continue to excel on the field as we reach the end of the regular season.
Turn Two: Bullpen Saves the Day
If there’s on thing to say about this Cajuns team, it’s that the bullpen can bail them out nine times out of ten. The starting pitchers allowed 12 runs over the weekend. You look at the bullpen, they only allowed two runs. Look at Saturday’s second game of a doubleheader and the Cajuns were able to rally behind yet another good performance by Dylan Moore, who threw three shutout innings, allowing only three hits to earn his 11th save of the year. The Cajuns are blessed with a ton of pitching depth and it pays off in dividends.
Turn Three: Coming Home
The Ragin Cajuns don’t have any midweek games due to it being finals week, but have a weekend series setup against Appalachian State at the Tigue. After being out on the road for four of the last five games, it’ll be nice to have a few days off and prepare for this team. But the Cajuns cannot afford to overlook the team that is ranked dead last in the Sun Belt standings with only a few weeks left in the regular season. The Cajuns could be in first place in the conference in a couple of weeks if they can come out of this week unscathed before heading into the biggest series of the year against South Alabama, who is currently ranked first. If you lose one of these series, it will be a harder road in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the teams right behind the Cajuns are only a few games back.
