Welcome everyone to another edition of #TriplePlay!
Turn One: Impressive Series Win
The LSU Tigers really surprised a lot of people this week getting a series win against top-ranked Florida. But the most surprising thing was the way they did it, rallying back at the end of the second game and keeping control of the game in the first. Jared Poche looked on point, helping the Tigers keep their early edge and the bullpen kept it in their favor on Friday night.
Turn Two: Missed Opportunity
For all the Tigers did right, they missed out on a big opportunity heading into the SEC Tournament. Heading into the regular season finale, the Tigers just needed to win to get a first round bye in the tournament. But that did not happen as the Gators were fighting to stay in the top four seeds and got it done in convincing fashion, snapping an 11-game win streak. LSU will have to take on the Gators once again on Wednesday if they can take down Tennessee again.
Turn Three: National Seed?
LSU definitely has a legitimate chance right now at getting a national seed after taking two of three from top-ranked Florida. But LSU might need to win a couple games in the tournament if they want to really lock it down. But as mentioned earlier, the road is difficult as they would take on Florida if they beat Tennessee on Tuesday. Head Coach Paul Mainieri has a tough decision on his hands concerning who he wants to pitch. Odds are he’ll pitch Alex Lange or John Valek III in the first game and then go from there. If LSU can beat Florida again in the second round, then that may be enough to get the national seed.
