This weekend’s series between the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (20-7, 7-2 Sun Belt) and Troy (18-14, 4-5 Sun Belt) was highly competitve with the first two games seeing the Cajuns just getting past the Trojans. Sunday was a different ballgame with both pitchers giving it their all and Troy was able to avoid the clean sweep this weekend, winning by the score of 2-1.
How It Happened
Alissa Dalton got the Cajuns on the board early with a sac bunt to score Brittany Rodriguez. However, the Trojans bats came alive with a solo shot in the second inning from Madeline Porter tied things up.
Kaylee Hussey broke the stalemate in the bottom of the fifth with a solo shot of her own out to center field. Summer Ellyson dropped to 9-4 on the season, allowing two runs off of three hits, walked one, and struck out five in four and a third of an inning of work.
Big Number: 2
Those two solo shots by the Trojans was the biggest number on Sunday with neither team really having an edge offensively due to strong efforts from their respective pitchers.
Player of the Game: Annie Willis
The Trojans pitcher went the distance, only allowing four hits and outside of the one run in the first was solid throughout Sunday’s ballgame.
