The University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns softball program took home the top three individual awards and led the state with six first-team honorees and nine total team selections on the 2019 All-Louisiana Collegiate Softball Team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA). The team was announced late Sunday evening.
UL junior shortstop Alissa Dalton was named Hitter of the Year, junior pitcher Summer Ellyson was named Pitcher of the Year, and second-year head coach Gerry Glasgow was selected as Coach of the Year.
Dalton and Ellyson earned first-team honors for the second straight season and were joined on the team by catcher Julie Rawls, first baseman Kourtney Gremillion, outfielder Sarah Hudek and designated player Lexie Comeaux.
Record-setting base stealer Kelli Milligan earned a spot on the second team, while third baseman Kara Gremillion and Raina O’Neal earned honorable mention honors.
UL led the state in first team selections for the 11th time in the past 12 years. The six first-team selections marked the most since claiming the exact amount in the 2017 season. The nine total selections is most overall All-Louisiana award winners since 10 were honored in 2012.
A LSWA panel of media and sports publicists selected the All-Louisiana team, based on statistics and performances through the teams’ conference tournaments. This is the 32nd year of All-Louisiana softball selections.
