When you look at the Ragin Cajuns headed into 2018, there’s a lot of returning players and they’ll obviously be key for a litany of reasons. Looking up and down the roster and there’s three players that to me will be indispensable for the Cajuns this season.
Jacques Boudreaux
One of the big weak spots for the Cajuns last season was the linebacker position. Once the opponent’s run game got into the second level, it seemed like more often than not they’d move the chains or break out for a big run.
The New Orleans product is going to be a big catalyst for the corps having a solid season. He saw a lot of meaningful snaps last season, including getting starts in the final two games. He seems poised to follow up with another solid season and if the Cajuns lose him, the defense might be a step behind at that second level especially in the run game.
Robert Hunt
I’m going to sound like a broken record if you’ve spent any time listening to Cajun RedZone Radio or any of the other segments that I’ve talked Cajuns football, I’ve talked up the offensive line and how that has been the weak spot on this team because of chemistry.
Much like Boudreaux, Hunt’s an experienced player that helped the run game be one of the best in the Sun Belt Conference . His experiences can certainly help build camaraderie and more importantly some chemistry.
While he could still help with that aforementioned chemistry if he goes down with the injury in terms of the locker room, the Cajuns offensive line will be affected if he’s not on the line ready to go.
Ja’Marcus Bradley
We’ve got to close things out with a great young wideout in Bradley, He had a big freshman season and if not for the proverbial QB carousel, his sophomore season could’ve been a big one. That being said he’s going to be the most indispensable player at least in my opinion.
Yes, you have guys like Ryheem Malone, but losing a potential WR1 along with being without Chase Rogers, it’s going to be an uphill climb for the passing game.
