Unofficial Holiday – April 20th (4:20)

Coming up this weekend on Saturday, April 20th is the unofficial celebration of marijuana. April 20th, 4-20, get it? This is not something new. The whole tradition of smoking weed at 4-20 was actually starting in the seventies by a group of hippies (or weed enthusiasts.) They would meet up at 4:20 pm to smoke together. Kind of like, tea time or beer-thirty.

Well recently with all the changes in law and weed being less of a criminal offense and even allowed in some states, this 4-20 day is getting more acknowledgment, especially by major corporations. Pizza Hut and Carl Jr are offering deals this weekend to celebrate Weed Day. (What, no Taco Bell, deals?? Rip-off.)

Now, this first deal is only available in Denver, Colorado but it still definitely deserves to be discussed. Carl’s Jr. is selling a burger for $4.20 on April 20th that will be served with a sauce infused with CBD. CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is oil derived from the hemp plant. Yikes. I wonder if you have to be 18 to order this burger. Well, probably not. CBD is not the same substance as THC. It will not give anyone a buzz so, in theory, it is safe to ingest without anyone side effects. (So, they say! What if this is a trick!) Some say CBD has health benefits like helping ward off anxiety inflammation and insomnia. So if you plan on heading to Denver this weekend, the burger will be called, “The Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight”

Pizza Hut is also getting in on the celebration of 4-20. Pizza Hut will be selling the Hershey’s Triple Chocolate Brownie for $4.20 on April 20, 2019. This is a nationwide deal. So even if you are not actually celebrating “Weed Day,” you can still get a cheap dessert. And no worries. This brownie is not infused with anything but chocolate and sugar.
