It’s safe to say after this weekend, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns just want to forget that this weekend even happened with UT Arlington rolling to a 9-5 win on Saturday to complete the series sweep.
How It Happened:
Will Olson got the Mavericks on the board in the bottom of the second when he drilled one out to right field. However, Todd Lott tied things up in the fourth inning with an RBI double to left-center field.
Things turned sour for the Cajuns in the sixth inning with a pair of RBI singles from Andrew Miller and Aaron Funk. UT Arlington kept it rolling in the seventh and eighth with a pair of three-run innings to give them a commanding 9-1 lead.
The Cajuns offense came alive in the ninth inning with Handsome Monica scoring off of a throwing error. Later in the inning, Daniel Lahare and Orynn Veillon hit a pair of RBI doubles to make it 9-4. However, after Veillon scored on a groundout, Hayden Cantrelle hit a pop fly out to right field to end the rally.
Big Number: 7
The Cajuns offense came alive late in the game, but only had seven hits to show for it in a losing effort. It really showed the gap between UT Arlington and the Cajuns in terms of overall talent.
Player of the Game: Orynn Veillon
The Cajuns may have lost, but Veillon definitely deserves some love for going 3-of-4 with an RBI and two doubles to boot.
