Homecoming for the Ragin Cajuns wasn’t what fans expected when the Cajuns looked inefficient on both sides of the ball in a 23-13 loss to Idaho.
Idaho wasted no time getting on the board with a 12 play drive that ended with Denzal Brantley waltzing into the endzone for an early 7-0 lead. The Cajuns looked like they were going to respond in a big way, opening their first offensive drive with a 52 yard pass to Michael Jacquet, but ended with only three points coming from the leg of Stevie Artigue.
The lead was quickly extended by the Vandals late in the first quarter with a 29 yarder from Austin Rehkow. However, the Cajuns would tie things up on the next drive with their longest drive of the season with 17 plays and ended with Anthony Jennings keeping it on a three yard walk into the endzone.
The Vandals would take the lead right back late in the second quarter with a quick rush from Isaiah Saunders to make it 17-10. Artigue would cut the deficit back down to four points late in the half with a 29-yarder.
The second half was fairly uneventful but the Vandals would ice the game away with a pair of field goals from Rehkow.
The Cajuns (3-5, 2-3 Sun Belt) have only five days before having to hit the road to take on Georgia Southern (4-5, 3-2 Sun Belt) with kickoff set for 6:30 pm.
