“Tommy Tanks” is just a different breed.
The sophomore from St. Pete, Flordia was named the SEC Player of the Week today after leading LSU to a 3-1 week including a series win over Kentucky, who led the nation in RPI. White went 7-18 (.389) on the week with four doubles, a homer, 11 RBI, and a .429 on-base percentage.
The NC State transfer hit .385 in the series against the Wildcats with three doubles, a long ball, and eight RBI, providing the game-winning RBI in each of the three wins for the Tigers. His two-run double in the first Thursday against Kentucky gave LSU a lead they never lost en route to a 16-6 run-rule victory.
White is now hitting .366 on the season with 14 doubles, 12 home runs, and 62 RBI, which currently leads the nation. The top-ranked LSU Tigers will host the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Tuesday evening for an in-state matchup.
