Carencro surrendered 28 points in one half of Jamboree football to Notre Dame before giving up 54 on the road to Sulphur in a Week One loss.
Turns out all the Golden Bears’ defense needed was some home cooking.
On Friday night Larry Breaux’s group shut out NISH as part of a 41-0 victory inside the Open Air CroDome. Leading the charge was defensive lineman Corey Willis.
The junior came crashing off the edge with regularity, shutting down the Yellow Jackets’ option-heavy attack from the Shotgun and also registering several tackles for loss and quarterback takedowns.
Carencro’s secondary was also much improved, but this was a defensive turnaround that started in the trenches. Willis gets the nod in this case as our Classic Auto Spa Player of the Game in Week Two.
