Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns quarterback Ben Wooldridge was named to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list on Thursday.
The Wuerffel Trophy is named for Danny Wuerffel, and recognizes a student-athlete that exemplifies a commitment to service.
Wooldridge is a redshirt senior from Pleasonton, California. He began his college career at Fresno State but transferred to Louisiana in 2021.
Last season, Wooldridge split time initially but eventually took over as the full time starter at quarterback. He suffered a season-ending ACL injury during practice before the Florida State game.
Wooldridge recovered ahead of schedule, and has been cleared ahead of the 2023 season. He is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Cajuns this season.
In the community, Wooldridge has assisted with the Gifting Grace Project, assisting homeless kids in Acadiana.
The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns start their season on September 2nd at 6:30 PM against Northwestern State at Cajun Field.
