Ebarb made baseball history, while Calvin and Claiborne Christian continued traditions of softball success this spring. Now all three teams help lead the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class C all-state squads.

The fourth-seeded Rebels beat top-seeded Family Christian in the semifinals and No. 2 Harrisonburg 8-3 in the final to claim the school’s first LHSAA baseball title with Drew Procell and coach John Jordan leading the way.

Claiborne Christian’s Allie Wainwright and coach Cody Martin of Calvin headline the Class C softball squad. Calvin, the No. 9 seed, edged third-seeded Claiborne Christian 2-1 in their Class C final.

Procell was selected as the Outstanding Player on the baseball squad. He batted .394 with 24 RBI and 31 stolen bases. Procell also struck out 106 batters. Jordan claimed Coach of the Year honors.

Wainwright truly filled the statistics columns for Claiborne. She was one of northeast Louisiana’s most prolific hitters with a .699 batting average, 14 home runs and 46 RBI. As a pitcher, Wainwright won 13 games and struck out 276.
