Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Dominance In Almost All Phases
This Thursday night matchup may have been the most complete game the Ragin Cajuns have played this season. The only real part of the game they struggled in was turning the ball over. At the half it was 35-21 in favor of the Cajuns. If not for 11 turnovers in the first half, it may not have been that close and the game might’ve been close to over before both teams headed to the locker room at the end of the first half.
2nd OT: Shawn Long Almost Outrebounded the Whole Team
Looking at how one-sided this game was from the outset, one stat tells the whole story. Shawn Long came within four rebounds of matching the amount of rebounds that Texas State’s whole team had. Shawn Long has shown strokes of genius since arriving to UL-Lafayette, but having a game like this really shows what he’s capable of.
3rd OT: Shooting Continues to Excel
The Cajuns haven’t necessarily been the most successful team because of how well they shoot, but this team has gotten the hot hand as of late. During this five-game win streak, they have been at least 44 percent from the field and 28 percent from the arc. The Cajuns are starting to get the shots going, but the Cajuns will need to keep getting the shots to fall right with two crucial games against UT-Arlington and UL Monroe to end this five-game home stand. If the Cajuns can make it seven straight, then I like their chances to make a run in the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
