Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Alpha Dog Did What Was Needed to Win
Every group has someone who is considered the “Alpha Dog”. In the case of the Ragin Cajuns, that Alpha Dog is Shawn Long. And tonight proved why he is the alpha dog of this team. Scoring six of the eight points in the overtime period should be proof enough. He put the team on his back once again and gave the Warhawks everything he had on Tuesday night.
2nd OT: Depth From the Bench
The UL Monroe Warhawks heading into the overtime frame were completely wiped of energy. Three of their starting five had played all 40 minutes of regulation. There’s an apparent lack of depth with this team and it showed in the overtime period. When you look at the Cajuns, only three players spent more than 30 minutes on the court. The Cajuns have incredible depth from the bench with players like Kasey Shepherd and Jay Hedgeman. It’s a major benefit when it comes to games like this.
3rd OT: 100 For Marlin
Cajun head coach Bob Marlin has been a major benefit for this team since arriving to UL-Lafayette. And tonight he got his 100th win as the head coach for the Ragin Cajuns. The last two years alone are proof that the Marlin has turned this program around. There’s a good chance he’ll have three straight seasons with 20 wins before the 2015-16 season is all said and done. So, thanks coach for 100 wins, and let’s get 100 more.
