Welcome everyone to the latest edition of #3OT where I break down what went right and what went wrong for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns! In this edition, I look at their 87-61 victory over South Alabama.
1st OT: Washington Dominates
Bryce Washington has been one of the most valuable players for the Ragin Cajuns and tonight was no exception. The junior dominated the Jags with an offensive flurry with 25 points, 13 boards, and four assists. Combine that with their bench performing well helped keep Washington fresh due to him being banged up. His performance on Monday night is definitely something that could earn him a Sun Belt player of the week award.
2nd OT: Turnovers Remain an Issue
The Cajuns biggest issue for most of conference play has been turnovers. It really hurt the Cajuns Saturday against Troy and if not for poor shooting from South Alabama, it could’ve been more of the same. When it comes to the Jags, they were only able to get three points off of 13 turnovers. That was what gave the Cajuns the ability to win.
3rd OT: Solid Defensive Efforts
Speaking of South Alabama’s poor shooting ability, this was in large part due to the Cajuns defense performing well. They held the Jags to 6.7 percent from three point range and it really helped the Cajuns keep it under control. Another big point of the victory was that they kept the amount of players in double figures down to three and even then they had no player above 15 points.
