Welcome everyone to the latest edition of #3OT where I breakdown what went right and what went wrong for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns! In this edition, we look at the Cajuns win over UL Monroe.
1st OT: Free Throws Save the Day
Both teams seemed to have next to no real flow throughout Saturday’s matchup. The shooting from the field for both teams was below 40 percent and it really could have cost the Cajuns in the second half. However, the Cajuns were able to put together a good performance in one aspect of their game and that was from the charity stripe. The Cajuns would get things done in the second half as they went 8-for-11 in the second half and that would wind up being the deciding factor for the Cajuns as the Warhawks underperformed in that aspect and also had less trips to the line.
2nd OT: Outstanding Defensive Effort
The Cajuns defense looked great as they were able to hold down some of their better players in Nick Coppola and Travis Munnings to a combined 11 points. They also were able to dominate with five blocks, including an amazing rundown block from Roydell Brown. He saw a limited showing in the game, but when he was out there he made an impact. The defensive effort was very good compared to past games and it led to the Cajuns being able to finish strong, something they weren’t able to do against Arkansas State.
3rd OT: Bryce Beasts on the Boards
It’s nothing new that Bryce Washington is a monster on the hardwood. Tonight was his night, especially on the boards as he racked up 20 boards on the way to his 13th double-double of the season. He wasn’t able to get many shots up, but he was able to get it done from behind the line late to help push them ahead of the Warhawks. He keeps doing that, don’t be surprised if this team catches fire in the near future.
