Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Solid From the Stripe
The LSU Tigers have had issues with free throw shooting, but this team is starting to click from the charity stripe. Now mind you they shot from the free throw line 55 times throughout the game (more on that later), but it was a solid effort from a team who has had issues in the past in that aspect of the game.
2nd OT: Almost Blew Lead In Final Two Minutes
With two-and-a-half minutes left in the game, LSU had an 80-66 lead. In nearly two minutes, they had a 10 point lead. In 24 seconds, Georgia had cut the lead to one point. It is just unacceptable for any team to lose a lead like that. The Tigers need to realize they can’t take their foot off the gas. If Georgia had some timeouts late, they could have definitely won this game.
3rd OT: Too Many Fouls
This was an ugly game on Tuesday night between LSU and Georgia with both teams combining for 55 (!) fouls, 27 of which were in the second half. One talking point during the LSU broadcast was something called freedom of movement. Basically what this does is reduce physicality and imporve what the NCAA calls making the game more smooth in terms of play. To me, this is what is ruining college hoops in 2016. It dragged this game almost 15 minutes longer than it needed to be. It gives the game an opportunity to be higher scoring, but who wants to see teams shooting free throws constantly? Just look at the LSU crowd, they looked restless just waiting for the game to end. Was it entertaining? To a certain degree, yes it was a fun game to watch. But the amount of fouls late just ruined the game for me and probably several fans of both teams.
