Welcome everyone to another edition of #3OT!
1st OT: Second Half Senioritis
This should have been a game that the Tigers cruised by with a win. But of course, the LSU Tigers have to make it a nailbiter for LSU fans for the second straight game. Heading into the half of senior night at the PMAC, the Tigers were up by 22 points. In the second half, this team was outscored by Mizzou 47-34. Most teams would have lost the game if their second half was this poor. It was another glaring example as to why the Tigers aren’t an NCAA tournament worthy team on Tuesday night.
2nd OT: Solid Shooting from the Stripe
In what was a very strange game, the Tigers played extremely well from behind the line shooting 75 percent. Ben Simmons and Antonio Blakeney went for a combined 94 percent from the stripe. That was a deciding factor as to why the Tigers came away with the win on Tuesday night.
3rd OT: Johnny Jones Needs to Rally the Troops Again
Before the start of SEC play, Johnny Jones got the team together for a “secret meeting” which amounted to the team airing their grievances. After the meeting, the team made a complete 180 after poor non-conference play. This needs to happen again if the Tigers still want to make it to the Big Dance. With a huge game inside Rupp Arena on Saturday followed by the SEC Tournament, there needs to be a turnaround to be able to control their destiny. If they can’t get the win against Kentucky, the odds for LSU making it to the dance goes down drastically. LSU making the tournament is good for it, but based off of the performance in the last two games, I’m seriously doubting it.
