The LSU Tigers tried to rally late on Saturday, but came up short against Mississippi State (27-12-1, 10-7 SEC) by the score of 2-1.
Jack Kruger got the Bulldogs on the board quickly with a solo shot to left field in the top of the first.
The Bulldogs wouldn’t score again until the top of the sixth when Humphreys got Jake Mangum across home plate off a sac fly to center field.
LSU finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth after Jake Fraley grounded out to shortstop, allowing Beau Jordan to scamper over to home plate. But that was all the Tigers could muster as they only got one hit in the bottom of the ninth.
Alex Lange dropped to 4-3 on the year, throwing a complete game, allowing two runs off of four hits, walking one, and striking out seven batters on the night.
The Tigers (26-13, 9-8 SEC) will try to avoid the sweep on Sunday with first pitch set for 12 pm.
