#3OT: Louisiana Ragin Cajuns vs Little Rock

Welcome everyone to the latest edition of #3OT where I break down what went right and what went wrong for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns! In today’s edition, I look at the Cajuns win over Little Rock.

1st OT: Davis Makes Most of Opportunity

After a strong week of practice, freshman Jerekius Davis was given a big opportunity as he was named a starter for this crucial game against Little Rock. He made the most of that opportunity with a strong first half. He ended up with 17 points, two boards, three assists, and two steals. This was his first start as a Ragin Cajun and his performance on Saturday made a statement that this wouldn’t be his last game as a starter.

2nd Half: Solid Shooting

The Cajuns have been fairly inconsistent when it comes to shooting in conference play and Saturday night just showed how good this Cajuns team can be. They ended the night shooting 61 percent from the field and a very impressive 50 percent from beyond the arc. Looking at the shooting from beyond it was in large part because of Frank Bartley and Davis, who combined for 7-of-12 from three-point range. The bad thing about this is that only four players were able to drain it from beyond and was the lone weak spot on this team offensively on Saturday.

3rd OT: Second Half Slump

While the Cajuns were dominant in the first half, the Trojans controlled much of the final twenty minutes. They were able to get 57 of their 82 points in the second half and were able to make a game that started out as a one-sided affair a little more interesting in the final minutes. One of the biggest question marks for the Cajuns is that they haven’t shown a real ability to finish strong. Winning a game like this was big for them as it pertains to season goals, but if they want to give themselves a fighting chance come March, finishing strong needs to be a focal point going forward.
