Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Snap Four-Game Skid Against South Alabama

Posted by clintdomingue on February 13, 2017 in Latest News

Cajuns

After losing their fourth straight and nearing the end of the regular season, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (15-11, 5-8 Sun Belt) needed to get back on the winning side of the ledger. That’s exactly what happened when they took on the South Alabama Jaguars (12-13, 5-7 Sun Belt), coming away with a convincing 87-61 victory.

The Jags started out fairly strong, getting out to an early 7-5 lead. However, the Cajuns would take control shortly after the first timeout and got out to as much as a seven point lead at the halfway mark. It continued to be all Cajuns as they were able to slow the game down late in the first half and were able to head into the locker room with a 37-28 lead.

The second period was much of the same with the Cajuns quickly extending their lead to 16 points. It was all Ragin Cajuns the rest of the way as they were able to pull away at around the midway point of the second half and hold on to a 26 point lead to snap their losing streak.

The Cajuns will head up to northern Louisiana when they take on UL Monroe (7-18, 1-11 Sun Belt) with tipoff set for 2 pm.

By the Numbers:

31: Number of points for the Ragin Cajuns off the bench. Recently, it’s been a lot of the starting five that’s contributed on the court when it comes to points. However, every Cajun player that took the court was able to put up points tonight against South Alabama.

25: Number of points Bryce Washington had on the night. This tied his career high and he ended up with 13 boards and four assists.

1,000: It was a big milestone for Jay Wright as he would score his 1,000th career point. This puts him at 44th all-time in scoring.
