The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team made a late surge in the 2026 season, putting themselves in consideration for an at-large bid. On Monday, they received that bid into the NCAA Regionals and will be headed to Starkville, Mississippi.

In addition to Louisiana (39-23) and host team Mississippi State (40-17), Lipscomb (29-24) and Cincinnati (37-20) will also play in the four-team, double-elimination tournament that is set to begin on Friday, May 29th.

Mississippi State will open the tournament on Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM against Lipscomb inside Dudy-Noble Stadium.

Then, Louisiana and Cincinnati will follow at 6:00 PM.

The winner of the Starkville Regional is paired with the winner of the Athens Regional, hosted by the Georgia Bulldogs. Boston College, Liberty, and Long Island will also play in Athens. The winners of each Regional will match up in a Best-of-Three Super Regional, where the winner earns a trip to Omaha for the Men’s College World Series.

The Cajuns had to make up ground down the stretch to get into at-large consideration, and they did so emphatically. They won each of their last four Sun Belt series, taking two of three over both Coastal Carolina and Southern Miss. They then made a run in Montgomery at the SBC Tourney, winning five games over five days, eventually falling to USM in the Championship Game.

Matt Deggs’ team now heads to a Regional for the third time in the last four seasons, and first since a runner-up finish in College Station against Texas A&M in 2024.
