Changes Sorely Needed to Make Dome Sweet Dome

Superdome

By BEN LOVE

According to a report released Friday by Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com/The Times Picayune, New Orleans Saints and Louisiana state officials are looking into another renovation of the Superdome.

Thank the big guy upstairs – and may it actually come to pass – because it’s desperately needed.

A study has been awarded to a San Francisco-based group, which is expected to furnish its report within six months. The preliminary budget offered is between $150-500 million.

What’s more is the surrounding campus, including the home of the Pelicans, would get a makeover, too.

Fans deserve a better experience, one significantly less dated. And while many other cities (I’m looking at you, Atlanta) are building new stadium cathedrals, New Orleans has stood its ground for years on a facility some 40 years in age.

It’s time to move into the 21st century, and for way more than just the sake of the Saints and Pelicans.

Want to host Final Fours and Super Bowls?

This is the cost of business to get back in that type of game, one New Orleans used to own, along with Miami and Los Angeles.

This latest news is encouraging. Following through is a must, to keep Louisiana on the map in terms of attracting major sporting events.

Sportsman’s Paradise can’t just apply to hunting and fishing.
