The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (13-3, 3-0 Sun Belt) started out slow on Thursday night against Appalachian State (7-8, 2-0 Sun Belt). That didn’t last long though as the Cajuns were able to dominate throughout the matchup and came away with a 78-45 victory.
The Mountaineers had a small lead early in the matchup, but the Cajuns quickly got back out in front thanks to a four point play from Cedric Russell. The small lead grew as the first half progressed as the Cajuns went on a 27-2 run in the final 8:33 to take a 46-17 lead into the break.
It was more of the same in the second half though as the Cajuns got out to a 35-point lead with 12:02 left in regulation The final nail was put in the Mountaineers coffin courtesy of Cedric Russell with a nice jumper with 3:20 left.
The Cajuns will return to action on Saturday when they take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (7-8, 1-1 Sun Belt) with tipoff set for 6 pm.
