Louisiana Softball Swept Away by Florida

Posted by clintdomingue on February 17, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

For a good chunk of game one of the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (6-1) doubleheader against Florida (8-0), the Cajuns looked to be in the same league. The Gators put the hammer down late in game one and didn’t let up on the gas and came away with a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon.

All of Florida’s runs came in the sixth inning and came courtesy of a pair of two-run shots from Nicole DeWitt and Janell Wheaton.

Kylee Jo Trahan dropped to 3-1 on the season allowing two runs off two hits in two and a third innings of work.

Game two was more of the same with the Gators getting out in front early on with a four-run inning that was kickstarted by a two-run single from Jordan Roberts. DeWitt struck again in the fourth inning with another two-run blast.

Florida put the game out of reach in the sixth with three more runs and came away with a 9-0 win.

Carrie Boswell was credited with the loss, allowing five earned runs off of six hits, walked four, and two strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings of work.

The Cajuns will look to avoid being swept on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
