It’s safe to say that LSU (19-11) isn’t sleepwalking through these midweek matchups. They dominated all night long and were able to come away with a 10-1 victory over Nicholls (9-19).
How It Happened
LSU set the tone early with an RBI single from Bryce Jordan in the second, but it was the bottom of the third where they really woke up with back-to-back jacks from Zach Watson and Austin Bain.
After Nicholls got on the board when Bell grounded into a double play to score Joey Morales, the Tigers put the game out reach in the bottom of the fifth getting three runs across highlighted by an RBI single up the middle by Jake Slaughter.
Antoine Duplantis put the final nail in the seventh with a two-run double to right center.
AJ Labas improved to 3-1 allowing one run off of five hits, walked one, and struck out two in five innings of work.
Big Number: 15
The Tigers offense was dominant with 15 hits, four doubles and a pair of homers. The effects from the “BP From Hell” are becoming apparent and this team is starting to find its groove
Player of the Game: Austin Bain
The Tigers secret weapon gets the honors for not only closing out the ballgame facing the minimum in the ninth, but for his performance, going two-of-four with a solo home run in the third to really put the game out of reach early on against a team like Nicholls.
