Thomas Morstead has picked up another honor.
The New Orleans Saints punter has been announced as the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Month. The announcement occurred during “Good Morning Football” on the NFL Network earlier on Thursday.
It is the second honor the 11-year veteran has earned this season.
In the team’s 33-27 Week 3 victory over Seattle, Morstead had six punts for 324 yards, with a long of 64 yards, and had two punts downed inside the 5-yard line. That earned NFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Morstead followed that up with pinning Dallas twice inside the 20-yard line during the New Orleans’ 13-10 victory on Sunday night.
Morstead, who is one of two players remaining from the Saints’ 2009 Super Bowl team, has recorded 587 punts for 27,576 yards and is averaging 47.0 yards per punt in his career. Morstead also was selected to the 2012 Pro Bowl.
In four games this season, the 6-foot-4, 235-pound Morstead is averaging 48.8 yards on 17 punts and has had 11 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
New Orleans (3-1) hosts Tampa Bay (2-2) on Sunday. Kickoff is set for noon.
