Reports: Brees Signs Two-Year Deal With New Orleans; Bridgewater Headed to Carolina

Posted by Louis Prejean on March 17, 2020 in Blogs, Featured, Latest News, New Orleans Saints

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Drew Brees has signed a two-year deal estimated around $50 million to stay with the New Orleans Saints. Former Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is negotiating a deal with the Carolina Panthers, according to Chris Mortensen.

The #Saints agree to terms with QB Drew Brees, source said. He gets a 2-year deal worth roughly $50M. Never in doubt, but now done. And Brees took less to help the team continue to build.

And Mortensen later reported that Bridgewater is negotiating a three-year deal with Carolina.

The Panthers and Teddy Bridgewater are negotiating a 3-year contract in the $60 million range, per source. The deal is not done as they work out details but it is expected to be complete when new league year opens Wednesday.

Brees threw for 2,979 yards on 74.3 percent pass completion in 2019. He recorded 27 touchdowns to only four interceptions last season.

Bridgewater won all five games he started with New Orleans last year while Brees was sidelined with a thumb injury. Bridgewater completed 67.9 percent of his passes for 1,384 yards and nine touchdowns.

New Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady was an offensive assistant with New Orleans before joining LSU as their passing game coordinator for their national championship season. Bridgewater and Brady were in New Orleans together in 2018.
